Modern Medicine Practitioners, Others Harp On Unity For Effective Healthcare Delivery

The Modern Traditional Medicine Practitioners of Nigeria (MTMPN) and the National Association of Nigeria Traditional Medicine Practitioners, have urged all practitioners to unite under a single umbrella to strengthen the sector and meet World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

Speaking with journalists at the India High Commission after the India Traditional Medicine Day in Abuja, Amb. Dr. Ibrahim Dada Nakowa, National President of MTMPN and World Global President of the Green World Association, said unity is critical for recognition, growth, and the achievement of sector-wide goals.

He noted that India’s success in traditional medicine stems from the use of medicinal plants and disclosed plans to import similar plants to Nigeria to support local healthcare development.

Dr. Alhaji Shaba Makurdi, National President of the National Association of Nigeria Traditional Medicine Practitioners, praised India’s integration of traditional medicine into its healthcare system and urged Nigerian practitioners to adopt the same approach.

Both leaders cautioned that individuals or groups practicing outside the recognized bodies will face consequences and encouraged all practitioners to register with MTMPN and the National Association of Nigeria Traditional Medicine Practitioners to align with global standards.
